What is the BIOPTRON Light Therapy System (BLTS)?
The BLTS is a medical device technology based on a unique light therapy concept. It can be used to treat a variety of medical conditions. More than 15 years of experience and ongoing scientific and clinical research in a variety of fields provide the foundations of this therapy.
Are there different devices?
Yes. In order to assure the best-fitting solution for every need, BLT range of products includes three different types of devices. They differ in size and design, but emit light with the same physical and technical characteristics. The filter diameter varies from 5 cm (BIOPTRON MedAll) to 11cm (BIOPTRON Pro 1) up to 15 cm (BIOPTRON 2).
Do the devices come in with floor-stands?
Yes, BIOPTRON Pro 1 is available either with a table stand or with a floor stand. For BIOPTRON MedAll and for BIOPTRON 2 we recommend one of the optional available floor stands. The stand not only allows for a more comfortable treatment but it also allows you to treat areas of the body, which would be difficult to reach otherwise.
Are BIOPTRON Light Therapy devices medically certified and approved?
Yes, they are approved as medical devices in compliance with 93/42/EEC (the European Community directive for all medical products and devices produced in the EU).
Are BIOPTRON Light Therapy devices of Swiss origin, i.e. are they made, developed and manufactured in Switzerland?
Yes, all BIOPTRON products are manufactured in our Swiss production plant.
Is BIOPTRON Light Therapy used only by medical professionals or also by end-users?
BLT is being used by medical professionals as well as by end-users. There are three different types of devices available in order to assure the best-fitting solution for every individual need - for medical professionals in hospitals and clinics as well as for end-users in the comfort of their home.
BIOPTRON Light has biostimulative effects. What does this mean?
BIOPTRON Light stimulates reparative and regenerative processes, as well as the body's defense-system.

BIOPTRON Light Therapy is effective in the treatment of leg and decubitus (pressure sores) ulcers, burns and in the healing of wounds after surgery and traumas (injuries).
As for pain treatment, what kind of pain can BIOPTRON Light Therapy treat?
Pain related to rheumatology, physiotherapy and sports medicine.
Is it necessary to consult a medical doctor before using BIOPTRON Light Therapy (BLT)?
With regard to medical conditions, it is generally recommended to consult a doctor before using BLT in order to receive professional advice as to whether this treatment is advisable for the intended purpose.
How should I use BIOPTRON Light Therapy?
Every device includes detailed Instructions for Use. Please read the instructions carefully and strictly follow them.
What is the duration of a therapy session and how often can BLT be used?
One session takes about 4 to 10 minutes once or twice a day. The duration of the entire course of treatment depends on different factors such as the reason for the treatment or the state of the treated area.
Are there specific hours during the day when the use of BIOPTRON Light Therapy is recommended?
No, BLT can be used any time, although it is preferable to use it when you have time to relax and enjoy its biostimulative effects. Regular use is recommended.
Are the devices easy to use?
Yes, all BLT devices are very user-friendly, handy and easy to maintain.
How should the treatment area be prepared before a therapy session?
The treatment area should be perfectly clean. When treating open wounds any clothing or topical medications should be removed. Regular cleaning of the wound should be done before using BIOPTRON (under doctor's supervision).
Should I hold the device at a set distance and position?
Yes, you should hold the device at a 90° angle and keep it at a distance of approx. 10 cm (4 inches) from the skin.
Does BIOPTRON Light Therapy have any harmful side effects?
BLT is being used for more than 15 years and until now no harmful side effects are known.
CHARACTERISTICS
What are the unique characteristics of BIOPTRON Light?
The following four characteristics have great beneficial effects:
Polarization, polychromy, incoherency, low energy.
What does polarization mean?
BIOPTRON Light is a polarized light. This means that its waves move on parallel planes. In BIOPTRON Light polarization reaches a degree of approximately 95%.
What does polychromy mean?
BIOPTRON Light is a polychromatic light. This means that it contains not only one wavelength (like laser-light), but a wide range of wavelengths, including visible light and a part of the infrared range. BIOPTRON Light does not contain UV rays!
What does incoherency mean?
As opposed to laser light, BIOPTRON Light is an incoherent or out-of-phase light. This means, that light waves are not synchronized.
What is the wavelength of BIOPTRON Light?
The wavelength of BIOPTRON Light is 480 - 3400 nm - hence it is a combination of the visible part of the electromagnetic spectrum and of infrared light.
Does BIOPTRON Light contain ultraviolet rays?
No, BIOPTRON Light has no UV rays and therefore it is absolutely safe.
What is the difference between sunlight and BIOPTRON Light?
In contrast to natural sunlight the technically synthesized BIOPTRON Light provides light therapy with controllable and therefore reproducible parameters.
